If you ever have to use an IDE for Java, I suggest you get Eclipse. On this system, Eclipse performs pretty well, considering that the core runs in Java. SWT apps will always leave Swing apps in the dust, IMHO.
(In unrelated news, bastard is out of commission, as I accidentally killed its supremely ISA-based video card. Since ISA is obsolete tech, I’m relegated to hunting through Buy and Sell or old computer stores or even Save On Surplus to look for a replacement (hopefully decent this time).)
