  • The new SM56 kernel modules (version 6.02) are badly broken, and don’t work on custom compiled kernels. They may, in fact, be dependent on the RedHat-patched kernels they were built on. Damn. And not that I’m giving up— I just have too many things to do, so I won’t be able to try objdump(1)-ing it, nor will I be able to attempt any kludges and fixes. (Not any time soon, anyway)

  • Motorola SM56: Update

If you happen to be a Linux user, and are using the kludged binary, you might want to check out the vendor-updated driver here. The driver is packaged for RedHat 7.3, 8, and 9.

  • Screwed... again

Apparently, I missed the deadline for enrollment and application confirmation. I had mistakenly thought it to be this week. Turns out this week is the first week of classes. I’m screwed, royally, and I am feeling tortured by all of this. My mom doesn’t know yet, and I’ll get yet another earful about responsibility and all that from my mom. (I know, I know, and I do think I should have checked, and that it is my responsibility to ensure I get enrolled.).

  • New Year's Resolution

    1. I will refrain from staying up late during weekdays
    2. I will finish three personal projects within the year and release source on all of them
    3. I will push myself to study even while I'm working. I will push myself to excel in this school. I will bite my tongue, and not slack off even if the urge is strong.*
    4. I will save and scrimp. Honest.
    5. I will push myself to meet deadlines.
    6. By the end of this year, I should have read "The Island of the Day Before" (Umberto Eco), "How to Travel with Salmon" (? also Umberto Eco). I will get myself a copy of Neal Stephenson's "Cryptonomicon". I will also try to get William Gibson's "Count Zero", and Isaac Asimov's "Robot City".
    7. I will vote wisely.
    8. I will fix my website, and will start writing essays once more.

  • There and Back Again

(It annoys the hell out of me, the fact that I’m up this early in the morning. Mosquitoes have been feasting on me the whole night, and I’m itchy all over. Grr.)

  • Mobile...

…in baguio, using my sister’s new gprs-capable phone. Neat.
