Installed the Mandrake distro of Linux. So far so good. I'm a bit annoyed that Mandrake doesn't give me the liberty of fiddling around with the setup (as it covers everything in a friendly setup UI). Of course, you can go with the expert setup— if you know what you're doing (what exact commands to use, what kernel modules to install, etc.).

Oh well.

The annoying thing, of course, is my modem is a fucked-up WinModem. HSP— Host-based Signal Processing. That means I need a software driver to actually make the modem work. Crap.
