Playing around with the idea of integrating Java into the Kannel gateway somehow, in particular the smsbox component. I’m looking at Kannel’s latest CVS codebase, and it looks… scary. If ever, I’ll be bootstrapping the whole thing via interfacing with the existing components using JNI, then slowly porting code to the Java side. From the looks of things, I’ll most likely be leaving a large chunk still in C, specifically the code that handles talking to the bearerbox.

Mental note: Bring a jacket. I’m freezing my ass off here. Grr…

So, the first day of my first job has finally ended. All I can say is that it was fun. =) I got to play around with Kannel, learn the Nokia CIMD2 protocol, met several interesting souls, and generally enjoyed myself (even if it was work.

Finally, some parts of my site are fixed, especially this section and its support pages. My thanks goes out to Neil for helping me with my CSS.

This is ridiculous. WTF am I doing friend-whoring/surfing/whatever on Friendster?

I’m currently browsing my “personal network” under Friendster. Someone should do a paper on the implications of Friendster and similar tools as abstractions/models of the social network hyperspace/graph. Heck, that would be an interesting study— mapping social networks into hyperspace. Issues include navigation of such a hyperspace as presented by Friendster and related applications, and how other models/etc. can be used (i.e instead of HTML and hypertext, why not use visual cues via clustering? or navigating the social network hyperspace via interest clusters?)
