Miyazu locked out her entry on the September 11 attack, but if anyone is interested in posting his/her comments, I have a message board set up here.

  • This article from Guardian Unlimited, a newspaper website based in the UK, explains some reasons behind anti-US sentiments. To quote the site:

Unconstrained by any superpower rival or system of global governance, the US giant has rewritten the global financial and trading system in its own interest; ripped up a string of treaties it finds inconvenient; sent troops to every corner of the globe; bombed Afghanistan, Sudan, Yugoslavia and Iraq without troubling the United Nations; maintained a string of murderous embargos against recalcitrant regimes; and recklessly thrown its weight behind Israel's 34-year illegal military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza as the Palestinian intifada rages.

    To quote:

When you watch the news - don't just look at the images, look at how the images are transmitted. CNN was a top offender, repeatedly playing the scenes of the small group of Palestinians dancing and cheering right over a spokesman who was trying to explain that not all Palestinians thought like that. The media has an awesome power to affect the events in the coming days, and they know it. The Greek historian Thuycidides wrote, in his history of the Peloponesian War, that "history is written by the victor" - meaning that all humans have a personal bias that comes through, even when they struggle for objectivity and impartiality. (from the Laughing Muse; bold text hers)

    How apt.

  • Nostradamus

Will people stop with the Nostradamus already? He's too vague for any definite predictions. I beg you. (Link from here, thanks)

A hot thread on Tuesday's attack, as well as some of my thoughts posted.

This is a hot issue, I have to say. The magnitude of death and destruction caused by the attack is great. How the US government reacts will have great repercussions. It really doesn't take a scientist to realize that.

  • Unreal

This part of the world woke up with news of a terrorist attack. Inquirer, The Philippine Star, and other major dailies screamed out the news: TERRORIST ATTACK ON US. The Internet is buzzing with news of the event. Four planes were used as weapons of mass destruction. Airplanes, with people, used to attack buildings, with more people.

  • Creative Writing

Just submitted a story for English. Now I'm PhP 73.50 poorer, since I had to photocopy 35 copies to distribute to the class.

  • I'm full of myself

Please ignore the last entry. It was a moment of temporary insanity. Besides, I'm too full of BS that I can't believe I wrote something like that.

  • Offsite storage

Finally. I can breathe a sigh of relief. I've moved some of my stuff to my Yahoo! Briefcase. Finally, finally, finally.

  • Coding, part deux

About the code I posted earlier. I'm back home, and I checked out my compiler. It's a MinGW build of the GCC, driver version 2.95.2 release 19991024, executing gcc 2.95.2-20001116. Any comments would be helpful. The code crashes on large files, by the way, with the following:
